T-Shirt Stenciling

Sophia and me felt crafty and came up with this fun design - yes, we do love our veggies and she insisted that she wanted to use her own shirt. So here we go.

First I drew the picture on the paper side of the freezer paper and cut it out with an x-acto knife.

Then I ironed it plastic side downonto the t-shirt and slipped a folded newspaper in between the fabric layers.
We applied some fabric paint onto this nice sponge brush and stamped it onto the stencil. Finally I took the freezer paper off and left the shirt on the balcony to dry. Easy as pie!

Post camping

It was almost a week ago that we packed the car for our camping weekend at Mount Tamalpais and I feel like this will be the highlight for quite a while ... I had plenty of chances to marvel at the Bay Area weather that changes from oven roasting temperatures to dripping wet and chilly within an hour car ride. Yep, I did pack socks and multiple sweaters for the gal. No, not for me. No raincoats either. Ahem ...

We still had a great time, including breakfast at the beach followed by a long beach stroll and little hikes through a mossy green forest. The shells and seagrass we found are still in their jars on my shelf and the photos for my first American scrapbook are on their way. But other than that - clothes (and people) got washed, tent and sleeping bags dried, things put away for the next adventure, and life has pretty much returned back to normal.

Normal that is for summer break, which means going to water parks to cool off (and make new friends!) and baking chocolate zucchini muffins when it is 85°F/29°C outside. Sophia hopping on the sofa chair with strips of fabric taped to her shirt. Me battling the afterlunch fatigue with a cup of coffee and hoping to get some sewing done.
